Aracelis Girmay is an American poet and educator whose lyric work engages migration, Black and Afro‑diasporic histories, and collective memory. She is the author of collections including Teeth, Kingdom Animalia, the black maria, and GREEN OF ALL HEADS. For her writing, has received honors such as a Whiting Award and a National Book Critics Circle Award nomination. She is currently a professor of English at Stanford University.
